NEWSLETTER MIYABI 15.10.2024 – XIX.TABEHOUDAI SUSHI EVENING

Dear guests, dear friends!

So how do you get along with the advice Unpu Tenpu – Let fate be fate – from the last letter? I know from your letters to me that to some of you it helped to manage your actual burdens, but I can imagine that others may not have liked it at all. So I’m adding a saying that also has the kanji Un and is also about fate. With it the Unpu Tenpu may become an encouragement to all of you. The saying goes – Un wa yuusha wo tasuku – which translates to – Fate favors the brave. (Selected from Ms. Alice Kraemer’s Kotowaza.) Yes, let’s be brave!

“Go for it with all your strength and enthusiasm and it will turn out well” – that’s what I am repeating to myself right now, waiting for Japanese dancer and musician Senju Einojo and dancer Senju Honoka. They will arrive tomorrow. All was arranged spontaneously and we do not really know each other, they are Japanese and I am Czech, and neither of us can be sure of our expectations. But it’s an opportunity and I go for it! Both performances on Oct. 17 in the Zen house are booked, but there are still seats in the restaurant for the evening. Here is the link to the program. There are still free seats for the afternoon, when you can be present in the room during dressing up in Lion costume and putting on the make up. I warmly invite you to a party after the performances, from half past ten in the evening in the Zen house, in the garden and in the restaurant. All who wish to come are welcome.

At Miyabi, we are already fully engaged in preparations for the annual Tabehoudai evening on November 1st. Yes,

November is the month of good fish and newly harvested rice. It’s the beautiful time of autumn – Aki in Japanese – and that’s why November 1 has been declared Sushi Day. Do not miss the opportunity to taste sushi in many forms – classic and newly created.
At the beginning of the evening, we will get you in the gastronomic mood with wonderful row of nigiri – one even with wagyuu from Miyazaki prefecture in A5 quality. As a special course, our chefs will prepare the Japanese delicacy called chawanmushi, this time with hotate mussels. The menu for the evening will include toro, anago sea eel, eel unagi, excellent Botan shrimp, hokigai mussels, hamachi and many other gifts of the sea. We will also make sushi with duck and for those of you who love vege sushi, we will have delicious shiitake nigiri and konnyaku nigiri. And much more. The exotic feeling will be brought by our original SakuraZakuro roll with salmon flavored with pomegranates and sakura petals. At the end, ice creams will await you – our matcha and our new one – pear with shiroan. You can also look forward to a wider selection of sake. For connoisseurs, we will have Miyabi no Tomo from sakekura ZAKU from Mie Prefecture.

Tabe-houdai means eat to your full satisfaction and content, and yes, there will be trays full of great sushi. Our experienced team will be led by our sushi master chef Mr. Noritada Saito from Japan.

Autumn is all around us. Yellow and red colors dominate, the leaves are still on the trees and only occasionally land down from the trees. Ducks fly in the sky and it’s nice to remember Lada’s pictures of autumn. Hopefully my haiku will remind you of them:
rising to the sky
reaching goose in arrow fly
Bonfire of Lada

Autumn. Have you come to taste the autumn Aki kaiseki obento? The guests are praising it. Kaiseki is a treat for the eyes and the taste buds, for the senses and the memories. Also on the autumn menu is the Nami autumn set with cream soup and Fukiyose plate. For those of you who come to Miyabi tuned for autumn, we will be gladly deliver a mood of autumn to your table.

With the wishes of Unpu Tenpu and Un wa Yuusha wo Tasuku I wish you all the best! See you soon!
